Date Night Alternatives

Watching Date Night is like wondering whether my future will be the same. Therefore, I came to mind that I have to plan out something unusual in the future not only for myself but for my partner not to bore herself to death (Choy!). In reality guys can exists in 2 categories when comes to dating.

1st type of guys: NERDS
These type of guys mostly can't think much for a date
Before exam date: Library
After exam date: Cinema
Holiday date: Cinema
Anniversary date: Cinema
Valentine's date: Cinema
I know what you're thinking - "Where got such guy right?"
Yes. Yes there are. Before writing this post, I belong to this category. (Thankful to this blog. Me nerd no more=))

2nd type of guys: "Sex is the only thing on their mind"
1st date: Drinks
2nd date: Drinks
3rd date: Dinner + Drinks + Sex
10th date and beyond: Netflix + Sex

So to say if (and only IF) you belong to one of this groups, what can you do for a date? I came out with a few... brilliant or not, you decide and try let me know before I got into any relationship okay?

1) Museum exhibit
I know this may sounds lame and there's a potential that both of you hate this. You both might feel obliged to smile, stare at the exhibits in mock-curiousity, squint at the little white index cards and pray that a bomb threat that will close the building down. But still, for guys to suggest this and you'll seem like an okay guy. (Suggestions to these date are mostly for first dates and both sides of guy and girl barely known each other)

2) Hiking
I don't know about you, but I like to hike and I don't like to hike alone. 2 or 3 persons is good which inspire me that this could also be a good date. On the hike, not only both of you could actually understands each other more, it's healthy too. Not outdoor type? Don't worry there's always a walk in the park, every city should have a park, of all parks please don't date at car park - it's not cool man. (Menjatuhkan maruah pihak lelaki saja). Speaking of parks bring me to the next on the lists...

3) Picnic
Please don't underestimate the power of picnics. There's something romantic (well mostly to girls but if you're sensitive guy then I'm sure you can feel it too) and awe-tastically budget-friendly. Tip: Youth park in Penang regularly have workers putting fertilisers on the grass, so if you smell something shitty I mean fishy, then please be smart okay? From stuffing a frisbee, cheese and wine into a duffel and voila, it's a date. Warning: This is a test for guys - if you can't have a good time with the girl when sprawled out on a picnic blanket, then you shouldn't be going out with the girl. (You can change your venue from beaches to boat to any outdoor serenity)

4) Ambitious Cooking
Cook dinner together but not just any dinner - a daring dish that, normally, you would never tackle (Maggi Mee is excluded). Cooking together is normally a first tier date (First phase - some sort of). It's playful, it's fun to tackle a project together, if it's not fun..... well... better know it now. Guys, if you don't own a house of your own or you're still living with your mother, please don't follow the act.

5) Concert
You may be surprised at how many guys don't even consider this option. It's perfect for 3rd to 6th date timeline. Pick an intimate venue for live music, the kind of place where you're sitting 3 seats from the guitarist. Added bonus: You both didn't even have to talk... (Joking...)

6) Outdoor Festival
No it's not about the 17th century renaissance festival, but rather the free, outdoor, cultural events. Most girls love this stuffs. and did I mention free?

7) Dance
9 out of 10 guys don't like to dance but 9 out of 10 girls LOVE to dance. So guys - Bulk up. Added bonus - after the dance, you both could just walk right out of the hall and enjoy the beautiful night under the stars (This is the part where the girls will start dreaming)

8) Bike Ride
This is especially good for city folks and people who normally don't ride bikes. Good dates are one where guys break free from their comfort zone, explore new things together and be just a bit adventurous. You can also include some stops along the way - cafe, waterfall, etc.

And that wraps up my ideas, though these ideas are nothing much compare to novels. They are, however, just different enough from dinner/cinema plus they're not far-fetched and extreme that you're scaring her with weirdness. (Yeah, I'm the weird one around). Please try not to copy my ideas whole-ly as the ohm-ness will be lost and if your date is succesful, a simple thank you note would cheer up my day.
